The development and implementation of a strategy that will enable the company to outdistance its competitors require large investments. And financing such undertakings from the company’s resources is not always possible. Also, procedures involved in getting a loan may be time-consuming and complicated. However, companies may use an alternative form of financing, i.e. the European Union funds. A large part of the EU funds earmarked for Poland for 2007–2013 is aimed at supporting businesses. Thus, with the right approach to applying for these funds, companies may gain an important source of complementary funding for their strategic activities.
